Reiki and me

Conversation: Day I
Anant (Peering into the computer screen): Have you joined the classes?
Me (Sprawled on the bed and listening to Beyonce): Umm…no…But I will...Promise!

Conversation: Day 7
Anant (Making eggs and bread): Have you joined the classes yet?
Me (Watching very intensely the latest Sharukh Khan track from Billu Barber): Umm…no…but I have been so busy…I promise I will tomorrow! (Back to the song)

Conversation: Day 10
Anant (Looking very serious while playing his prince of Persia game): So what happened about the classes?
Me (cooking dinner and eating half of it while making it): Oh shit! @ Well…You see the teacher has this problem…and she can’t teach….because she has this problem…

Conversation: Day 15
Anant (Back from office and ready to fight): Why the hell are you so lazy? These classes will help you…and me also!!!!!
Me (Just read Lajja and will not take getting screamed at by a man quietly): Yes! I know! Stop pestering me! God! Why can’t you join them if you think they are so good!

Many more such conversations and fights happened before I actually ended up in a Reiki class. They are supposed to be a very good. Apparently once you learn Reiki, you can heal people and yourself through positive vibes. Hmmm….how interesting. First I thought it was ancient Indian practice but when my teacher gave a confused look, I realized that Reiki is actually a Japanese and Tibetan form of healing. This makes it even more exotic somehow! So for 5 hours I leaned Reiki-level 1. I practiced with my teacher, learned exercises, watched videos and I was exhausted! I was ready to take my certificate and leave!

Teacher: Now come back in 21 days.
Me: 21 days? Why? What about my certificate?
Teacher: You will get it in 21 days after you practice the exercises I taught you everyday for one and a half hour in the morning.
Me: What? Why? I practiced with you!
Teacher: So? I just taught you! That’s no big deal! Now you have to clean your body from within by yourself. Next 21 days will be tough. You will feel all these emotions rising up…you may even fall sick. But don’t take any medicines and continue practicing. It will be okay. After 21 days we will meet again and you tell me how it went. Then you will get your certificate.
Me (In my mind): Bloody hell didn’t sign up for this. Can’t I just get my certificate and start healing people?

Now I have to go back in 21 days. I have started practicing but it isn’t easy. I have become so emotional that I start weeping seeing Sharukh Khan Song! I guess this is side effect she was talking about. But I have read amazing things about Reiki. It’s a very powerful form of healing which uses the universal energy to heal. I don’t know when that will happen but I have to be positive. Oh yes! That’s one more thing about Reiki. Positive thinking is very important. Now I have to go and practice again. I still have 18 more days to go…dammit…that’s so long! Dammit!( I have to work on the be positive bit!)
